Hello Bookworms, and welcome to another post from The Paperback Princess! I hope you all had a wonderful week! I am taking English Comp 1 this term and you would think it would be easy for me since I am a Creative Writing/English major, but this class is either harder than I expected, or I am seriously overthinking it! Anyways, today I will be doing a review of the book ‘The Cellar’ by Natasha Preston so let’s get right into it!

Genre: Mystery, Thriller, YA
Number of Pages: 347
My Rating: 5/10
“My Mum was right: the longer you were with a man, the grosser they became.”
I really enjoyed the plot of this book, but there were so many other issues that just made this book bad. For starters, the main character is EXTREMELY annoying. I understand that she has been captured by a strange man and things are rough and scary, but crying every 5 seconds and throwing up (or wanting to throw up) was seriously ridiculous to me. Also the writing was bad too. This is from the same author as the previous book review. She is in her 30’s and writes like a very young teenager. It was really hard to get through this book because of the writing. All in all I really wanted to like this book, but there were way too many issues that kept me from actually enjoying the plot and story of the book.
Here is the synopsis from Goodreads: Nothing ever happens in the town of Long Thorpe – that is, until sixteen-year-old Summer Robinson disappears without a trace. No family or police investigation can track her down. Spending months inside the cellar of her kidnapper with several other girls, Summer learns of Colin’s abusive past, and his thoughts of his victims being his family…his perfect, pure flowers. But flowers can’t survive long cut off from the sun, and time is running out….

And that’s it for this post! I apologize that lately it’s only been book reviews, but I wanted to review all the books I finished lately. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will have something new to post! Until next time, Bookworms! Happy Reading!
